The Sacrament of Marriage of Jakub Augustin and Amanda Brnjas

…he invited the young couple to be, as apostle Paul so beautifully wrote, one thought, one mind. Be one heart and one soul!

On Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00am, Jakub Augustin, son of Roman and Ingrid (nee Hrotkova) from St. Peter’s Parish in Nanaimo, and Amanda Brnjas, daughter of Željko Brnjas and Zdenka (nee Marincil) from St. Nicholas Tavelich Parish in Winnipeg, entered into the communion of marriage and family life with the sacrament of marriage.
The wedding took place in St. Nicholas Tavelich church with Reverend Marko, former pastor, presiding over the Eucharistic celebration.

In his homily he invited the young couple to be, as apostle Paul so beautifully wrote, one thought, one mind. Be one heart and one soul. Strive for, as much as possible, that perfection which we have in God in three divine persons. We heard today in the Gospel that the one who builds with Christ, who builds on the rock, is a wise man. That house will not collapse when problems come, when the wind blows and the rain pours down. Only that in which we invest our work and effort in ends up worthy and valuable and lasts forever. Father Marko mentioned at the end that the young couple, from today on, have two oars. Oars that you will use together to decide in which direction and speed you will go. If you row together then your boat will have its direction and sail towards its goal. The only insurance you have in that sail is the I DO that you will say to each other today, nothing else. Protect your vows as something holy and precious. Father Marko asked everyone present to support the new family with their presence and prayers.

The celebration of Mass was enhanced with music from, organist Ana Renić Stipanović.
The best man and maid of honour at the wedding were: Michael Bathgate from Nanaimo and Adriana Prokopetz from Winnipeg.

Congratulations to the newlyweds and their families!
