Reopening our church with limitations

Reopening our church with limitations

Dear parishioners and friends of St. Nicholas Tavelich Church,

You might be already aware that the province has somewhat loosened the restrictions concerning faith-based gatherings. This is a great news. Thanks be to God!

  1. Mass Times & Attendance

In compliance with the current provincial regulations, we are allowed to have 25 people at any one time for mass. This obviously is not enough to give the whole community a chance to participate at Mass of the Lord’s Day (Saturday evening and Sunday morning masses) on a weekly basis. Therefore, the places for the Mass of the Lord’s Day are going to be available by invitation only for the weekends of June 26-27 and July 3-4. You should have received a phone call from Marijan Paulic by now. If not please contact him at 204-228-8117.

Once you attend mass there will be sign-up sheets available for you to write your name to attend mass two weekends away from the weekend you attended. For example if you attend mass on the weekend of June 26-27 you will be able to sign up for July 10-11. Please make use of the Saturday 4:00PM mass. It’s an anticipated mass – the readings, prayer formularies are from the Sunday.

We will continue to live-stream Sunday 11:00AM mass.

Attendance at the masses during the week, is on the first come first serve basis. In other words, you don’t have to be invited or register to attend mass during the week. Once we reach the limit (currently 25 people) the church is full and doors will be locked. Upon entering the church, you will need to sign in your name and number for contact tracing purposes.

This process is going to require much patience and sacrifice on the part of each member of the community. But I have faith that with the help of the Father in a spirit of fraternal love it’s going to work. This sacrifice should be much easier than the one we made in the last 2 months without the ability to come to mass.

  1. Gathering protocols

The protocols that were in place before we stopped to gather for mass in person in May are going to be in place. These include and are not limited to: if you are sick or experience symptoms of COVID-19 please stay home, wearing a face covering is required at ALL TIMES , physical distancing, Thank you in advance for following these protocols.

I’m looking forward to celebrating the Eucharist with you and for you and seeing you all back.

With assurance of my prayers,

Fr. Peter
