33rd Annual Public Way of the Cross in the Archdiocese of Winnipeg

33rd Annual Public Way of the Cross in the Archdiocese of Winnipeg
by

Friends as you are aware our parish (St. Nicholas Tavelich) has been chosen to host the 33rd Annual Public Way of the Cross on Good Friday, April 10, 2020 starting at 9:30 AM. The goal of the Public Way of the Cross is to raise awareness to injustices in our society – presence of the suffering Christ in our midst and to pray for healing and support for those suffering these wounds in their life and other injustices against human dignity.
In the past years when this event has been held in the city of Winnipeg there was about 2000 people who came out.
Our Parish Steering Committee, led by Mr. Franc Stepic has been at work planning and working out the details since the beginning of the year. See below the list of the Parish Steering Committee members along with their area of responsibility. If you would like to help out with the event you can either contact the church or contact directly the person in charge of the respective area.

Among the major accomplishments is the choosing of the theme: By His wounds We are Healed (cf. Is 53:5), the selection of the road with the stops along the way. Click here to see the route!

On Saturday, February 15th a few of us went to Portage La Prairie to receive the official PWOTC Cross from the Good Shepherd Parish, a host parish of last year’s PWOTC. After a short prayer service we took the Cross and brought it to St. Nicholas Tavelich Parish. The Cross is currently in the Narthex of our Church.

Following the “road trip” to Portage we had a pizza luncheon and the Liturgy Planning team met to work on the reflections for the different stations.
